Familia Moja - Update April 2010

A quick update from Familia Moja Children's Centre:

We are presently looking at purchasing 2 acres of land a short walk from the building we rent at the moment. Our aim with this land is to build a permanent home that the children of Familia Moja can call their own, setup income generating projects and also plant fruit/vegetables to provide the majority of the food the orphanage requires off our own land.

This step ahead in our development fills all of us involved with Familia Moja with a sense of pride.

Secondly, a big thank you to Rebecca Wingate and Aaron Maxwell who donated their graphic design services early this year to design adverts for the orphanage that appeared free of charge in Melbourne Magazine's Bark and Spook. Thank you to Bark and Spook also for their support.

Thirdly, Familia Moja is continuously seeking ways to improve the care we provide and to ensure that our future plans come to fruition. We always welcome the generous support of all and every supporter of FMCC. Here’s how you can get involved if you wish to do so.

1. SPONSOR A CHILD

It costs FMCC 6,617KSH (AUD$110) per month to care for each child at FMCC. Sponsoring a child can mean can mean reuniting a child with their relatives, ensuring the future of a disadvantaged child or providing a supportive and comfortable space at the FMCC.

2. MAKE A ONE OFF DONATION

An example of how far your money can go is...
Monthly Food and Water per child = 3,350Ksh (AUD$56)
Rent per Month = 12,000Ksh (AUD$200)
Electricity per Month = 1,500Ksh (AUD$25)
Tuition per Month = 2,500Ksh (AUD$43)
Note: AUD$1 = 60KSH

3. ORGANISE A FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR FAMILIA MOJA

4. VISIT THE ORPHANAGE IN KENYA AND VOLUNTEER
If you would like to get involved please email Jess on the below address familiamoja@gmail.com
